Dopamine Dressing: Just A Trend Or A New Era?

By now, we are all familiar with the buzzwords of the year: Dopamine Dressing.

Pinterest trend forecasting was one of the first (to my knowledge) to call it the trend for 2022, and I honestly couldn't believe it! The items people were forecasted to search for are things that are already being sold on our website; rainbow, hot pink, electric blue and more are all things they predicted and are for sale on our site!

Although being on trend feels great in the moment, we have to ask ourselves...is the concept of Dopamine Dressing more than just a trend?

I believe that this concept is more than about wearing bright colors and standing out. It is ushering in a new era of dressing (that has already started) in what you love. All of the items chosen to be sold were not based on this trend. These items were chosen based on our idea of dressing like your best, bold and authentic self. The days are fading away of the must follow trends that come and go. As many are starting to see the decade trends recycle themselves repeatedly on top of the few trends that are being worn OUT by every influencer's social media, it just gets tiring to look at. 

Just like social media algorithms are changing to what people want to see, fashion is changing more towards staying true to your style and what you want to wear. 

This brings brand loyalty and niche markets to the forefront fashion now because people no longer want to shop just anywhere (although many still do). People want brands they can relate to and brands that have a strong statement about who they are and what they stand for. That's such a beautiful thing because that builds trust and a relationship between the brand and the customer!
