Fall is Here, Now What?

Fall is Here, Now What?

It's now starting to get consistently chilly to start changing out your summer clothes from your closet.

WOOHOO! FINALLY!

Yes to no more hot sweaty nights, wishing there was a hint of a cool breeze from outdoors.

But now what? We start attempting to put away our winter clothes and, *gasp!* the drawers won't close! Maybe we didn't fold everything up neatly enough. Or maybe these thicker sweaters can go in the closet? Yeah, that will work.

Then, all of a sudden, our closet is so tight that if we try to take one sweater off the rack and 3 shirts come along with it!

Seriously?! We have to see the signs...WE HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF!

So, similar to spring cleaning, we propose a Fall Refreshening!

Doesn't that sound blissful? Not having the continuous struggle of pushing back clothes just to even SEE what we have? It may sound like a lot of work, but really we are just making room for stuff we already have (and stuff we KNOW we will be buying over the next 2 months claiming it may or may not be a Christmas gift or that it was such a steal we had to have it!).

**Don't even try it, we have every excuse in the book for shopping**

Now, how do we determine what stays and what goes?

Below are our TOP 3 TIPS to quickly figure out what clothes to give away (or honestly throw away).

1. If it has holes that are not intentional or fixable...TOSS HER!

For example, we all have those jeans. Those perfect fitting, never let me down, always look good in every situation jeans. The only problem with them is they have holes in the thigh areas! Now we love these jeans. They have gotten us THROUGH. But listen here....it's only going to get WORSE and we want to treat ourselves like the queens we are and start UPGRADING our lives. What better way to treat yourself than to get a new replacement of your favorite jeans?!

Here's a living breathing example of these war trodden holes.

This does not mean they have to go away forever! They can be repurposed into another top or pant (if you know how to sew), or maybe some type of artwork for your home, or even just plain recycled to a local clothing recycling company (see link at the bottom for further education!) Look at some cool ideas to try on our Pinterest here.

*For anything else with holes...unless we really want to fix it or we want to wear it when doing something messy like painting or yard work...TOSS HER!*

2. If it has sweat/pit stains, oil stains, or any other stains that cannot be removed (or that you do not intend on removing right away)...TOSS HER!

Imagine our favorite t-shirt. It's super cute with the graphic on it, has many cool memories attached to it, but as soon as you lift your arm, you see dark or yellowish circles. GROSS. Or what about an old spaghetti sauce stain right on the chest! Or how about a big hair product/oil stain on the back of your shirt! Whether we are out with our girls or with our boo, nobody wants to see that!

Yes, that's oil, not water...

Yes, it's oil, not water...

Let's put it this way, we want to look our finest when we go out. Eliminating clothes with these issues will ease our minds and boost our confidence because we won't be self conscious about those spots.

3. If it does not fit....TOSS HER!

Okay, we know this is a little obvious, but it had to be said. We are all waiting for that fateful day when we are going to lose the weight (or gain the weight) so we can get back into a dress we loved (or into a dress we never got to wear).

But darling, we have to MOVE ON!

**But there is an AMAZING reward to doing this!!**

By removing the items that can cause us to feel bad about ourselves, we can celebrate who we are now by purchasing things that fit us! Some see it as motivational, which having one or two pieces is understandable. But honestly, no more than that.

Well babes, that's it for us! Be sure to comment and share with people who need to hear this closet gospel for the day.

Until next time,
